Not long ago, D CEO — a Dallas magazine about executives — headed to the Dallas headquarters of Topgolf International Inc. for a photo shoot with the company’s CEO, Ken May.

The shoot was for the magazine’s regular “My Office” series, exploring the physical spaces from which Dallas-Fort Worth executives conduct business. But May’s surroundings didn’t quite match the typical CEO’s office decor.\

“When the photographer showed up, you could tell he was like, ‘This is not what this usually looks like,’” said Amanda Hill, a Topgolf public relations representative who was there for the shoot.

The relaxed atmosphere in May’s office plays right to the culture that the sports entertainment company — which opened its first Colorado location in Centennial in August 2015 and will expand to Thornton late next year — is putting into place.
