One person was rescued after a fire broke out in an apartment at an affordable housing complex in the East Colfax neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Denver Fire says the blaze was contained to just one unit, and is now out.

The fire was reported just after 6 a.m. at the Renaissance at Xenia Village at 1425 Xenia Street – near East Colfax Avenue and Yosemite Street.

It’s unclear what started the fire, or the extent of the damage to the unit involved. The condition of the person pulled from the apartment is unknown. Denver Fire says they are being treated by EMS, and were injured.

Xenia Street closed in the area for cleanup and the investigation.

According to the Renaissance’s website, the complex has 77 housing units, which serve adults with mental illness and physical disabilities.

The housing complex also supports homeless and low-income households.
