After meeting, you can still fish in the ‘Toilet Bowl’

The "Toilet Bowl" is a famous spot on the Fryingpan River in Eagle County.

A meeting involving multiple local agencies ended with good news for folks who like to catch big trout: the famed “Toilet Bowl” will remain open, but you still can’t SCUBA dive there.

This comes in wake of numerous posts on the internet claiming that the famous spot on the base of the Ruedi Dam on the Fryingpan River would close.

Parts of the area technically are closed to the public, but as long as fisherman obey signage there and stay on the shore, it shouldn’t be a problem.

During earlier interviews with 9NEWS, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Land Management said that a YouTube video of a SCUBA diver put safety concerns at the “Toilet Bowl” in the spotlight.

Paddle boarding, free diving, swimming and wading will remain prohibited at the “Toilet Bowl,” and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office will continue to enforce the rules there.
