Body found in burned vehicle identified as Highlands Ranch man

The coroner identified the victim as 55-year-old Michael Kellam II.

AURORA, Colo. — A Highlands Ranch man has been identified as the victim of a car fire last weekend in Aurora.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire just after midnight on April 13 in the area of East 58th Avenue and North Flanders Street, according to the Aurora Police Department. 

An unidentifiable body was found inside the car after extinguishing the fire, Aurora police said. 

On Friday, the coroner identified the victim as 55-year-old Michael Kellam II. His cause and manner and death are under investigation, according to the coroner.

Aurora police on Sunday said that due to the suspicious nature of the death, the homicide unit will handle the investigation.
