Two elementary school-aged boys were caught shooting at chickens with BB guns Saturday evening at Green Mountain High School, according to Lakewood Police.

A woman spotted them shooting the animals at around 5:30 p.m. and called police.

None of the chickens died, although one was hit, according to Lakewood Police.

While one of the boys – who is 9 years old – can’t be charged with a crime per state statute, the other is 11 and could be, Lakewood Police say.

A spokesperson for Jefferson County Public Schools said the chickens were property of Green Mountain High School.
