Crews started searching for a visitor at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Monday after noticing their vehicle had been parked at the Sand Pit picnic area since the weekend of May 7.

Aviation crews, park staff and search dog teams are currently scouring the area for the unidentified visitor.

Some of the search area includes 14 miles of rugged terrain in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness Area.

Additional resources are expected to be called in Wednesday.
