A man died after being bitten by a rattlesnake near the Mt. Galbriath trailhead close to Golden Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Hohs, 31, was up along the trailhead with a friend when the rattlesnake bit him just before 1 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman he was with called emergency responders, who hiked about a mile and a half just to get to the pair.
Golden Gate Fire, the sheriff's office, and JeffCo Open Space responded and took Hohs to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood where he later died.
On Sunday, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office alerted media that Hohs' autopsy had been completed. His cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
