A child was killed after he was hit by a vehicle on Monday night in southeast Denver.
Police responded to the scene at Quebec Street and Evans Avenue around 7:45 p.m.
Colorado State Patrol said two children were crossing Evans, but not using the crosswalk at the time of the crash. The other child was not injured.
A tweet from DPD sent around 8 p.m. said the victim suffered a "serious injury." They later updated their information and said it was a fatal crash. CSP confirmed on Twitter the driver involved did stay on the scene.
CSP has identified the child as 11-year-old Damian Solis of Denver.
The driver has been identified as 45-year-old Maria Yurivilca of Aurora. Investigators don't believe drugs, speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
CSP says Solis was wearing dark-colored clothing when he was hit by Yurivilca's Chevrolet Tahoe and did not stop for oncoming traffic.
