Colorado's attorney general has shut down an unlicensed debt collecting company that in one year illegally collected debts from thousands of consumers.

Attorney General Cynthia Coffman said her office shut down Peak Resolution, LLC and secured a judgement requiring the defendants to pay $491,000 in consumer restitution, penalties and attorney fees.

The judgement prohibits the defendants, Dan Cane and Chris Hagerman, the company's owner and manager, from doing business in Colorado without proper licensure.
