A Republican lawmaker in Colorado’s state legislature announced Monday that he is resigning to accept an appointment from President Donald Trump’s administration.
State Rep. Dan Nordberg (R-Colorado Springs) will serve as regional administrator for Region 8 of the U.S. Small Business Administration, a position where he will oversee that department’s activities in six states, including Colorado.
Nordberg says his resignation will take effect at the beginning of January and that the House District 14 Republican Vacancy Committee will meet on Dec. 21 to discuss filling his seat.
He will be replaced by the start of the next legislative session, according to a news release from Nordberg’s office.
Nordberg was elected to House District 14 in 2012 and serves on the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee.
He was also the chairman of the Legislative Audit Committee.
