The Boulder County Coroner’s Office confirms that the body of a 19-year-old man reported missing in Longmont last week has been found floating in a pond in the Golden Ponds Nature Area.

Aravind Elangovan was first reported missing by his parents March 31, shortly before 11 p.m., according to Longmont Police. Police said he suffered from various mental conditions, and was not wearing pants or shoes when he disappeared.

When he went missing, it was publicized across the nation that he had recently returned to Longmont from life as a student at Brown University in Rhode Island, according to police. 

Numerous members of the Longmont Department of Public Safety, partners of the Longmont Police, search-and-rescue dogs, volunteers and Elangovan's family and friends looked for him.

His body was found in the easternmost pond of the nature area on Wednesday evening. Police said it was around 10 feet from the shoreline, and they are investigating to determine if foul play was involved.

The coroner’s office is working to determine how Elangovan died.
