A 26-year-old day care worker who was supposed to be watching two toddlers will get a year's probation for allowing the young boys to wander into the street.

Bisharo Mohamed, an Aurora woman, pleaded guilty to negligent child abuse on Oct. 23 in Arapahoe County Court.

She was sentenced on Thursday.

In May 2017, Mohamed was working at Rising Stars Day Care on Cornell Avenue in Aurora.

When the father of one of the toddlers who attended the daycare arrived to pick up his son, instead of finding him inside the daycare, he saw him wandering in the middle of Cornell Avenue with another boy.

The dad stopped and picked up the two boys, who were not injured.

Aurora Police determined, at the time, Mohamed was supposed to be supervising the children who had been found in the roadway.

Mohamed had no prior criminal convictions, the district attorney's office said.

As part of her plea agreement, she will take a parenting class and perform 30 hours of community service.

Her conviction prohibits her from being able to work at any licensed childcare facility in the future.
