In a bipartisan celebration of leadership, Governor John Hickenlooper, former Governor Bill Owens and Quarterly Forum (QF), hosted the inaugural Governor’s Leadership Celebration at the History Colorado Center.
Six Governor’s Citizenship Medals were given to individuals and organizations making significant impact on the lives of others in Colorado.
“The Governor’s Citizenship Medal, the Medal of Freedom for the state of Colorado, recognizes the great citizens and organizations making enormous impacts on our communities,” said Governor Hickenlooper, “It is our hope that this nonpartisan award will institutionalize selfless leadership and inspire the next generation.”
The 2017 Medal categories and recipients are:
Emerging Community Leader, given to a young community leader who has demonstrated professional excellence and positive impact on the community and serves as an example for future generations: Taylor Phinney, American Cyclist, Boulder https://vimeo.com/

Created by Executive Order in 2015, and supported by all living Colorado Governors, the Medal is one of the highest honors bestowed upon citizens and organizations of Colorado for their meritorious contributions to the strength and vitality of the state.
