In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donahue’s memory to the Flying Wheels Foundation at 15055 S. Golden Rd. in Golden.
Donahue was an 11-year veteran of Colorado State Patrol. He was born in North Forks, North Dakota, according to his obituary, and is remembered as “extremely hard-working, honorable and genuinely kind.”
In fact, his obituary says he was so honest he even gave his own wife a ticket.
The driver accused of hitting him, identified as 41-year-old Noe Gamez-Ruiz, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing death and failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
