Lead levels in Creekside Elementary School’s water supply are unacceptably high, the principal said in a statement.
Staff tested water from nine of the school’s sinks on Tuesday.
All water to drinking fountains will be shut off until test results show normal levels. Bottled water will be provided until then, and the cafeteria will serve pre-prepared food.
Students can wash their hands and use the restroom as normal.
Principal Kelly Summerfield says lead within the soldering used to connect pipes may be the cause. Administrators contacted the City of Aurora, and have been assured the water is safe, Summerfield said.
