Kitchen fire breaks out at Thornton nursing home

A kitchen fire at a nursing home in Thornton overnight sent two employees to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were called to the Elms Haven Center, 12080 Bellaire Way, at about 2:20 a.m. Arriving crews were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area.

No patient rooms were impacted.

If family members want to call and check up on their loved ones, they can call 303-450-2700. If they want to meet at the property, they are asked to go to the Arbor Unit Conference Room.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
