A plane crashed into what deputies say was an electrical transmission line, causing a massive power outage in Eastern Colorado Thursday night.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook that just before 8 p.m., a small plane headed toward the Limon Airport clipped an electrical line and later crashed just south of the airport while trying to land the damaged plane.

Deputies say when first responders arrived, the pilot was out of the crashed plane and walking around.

The exact number of customers affected is hard to pin down - at this time of this writing, the outage map for Mountain View Electric Authority is down.
