The Longmont City Council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday to hear a presentation from the Housing Authority about their practices, following unlawful searches at one of their properties.

In May of last year, a Weld County Sheriff's Office investigation found that residents of The Suites, a government-funded housing complex, felt "pressured," as if they couldn't say no to the K-9 searches.

In some of the eight units that were searched, at least three were entered without warrants or consent, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The investigations found that Krystal Winship Erazo, the Director of Operations for the Longmont Housing Authority at the time of the searches, asked for the drug dogs to be brought to The Suites.

She wanted two specific units searched. She called them "targets of concern" and suspected the tenants were "supplying or dealing meth and/or heroin."

In November, four tenants reached a $210,000 settlement with the city of Longmont as a result of the warrantless searches.

Public Safety Chief Mike Butler confirmed to 9NEWS that one of the Longmont Police officers will receive 30 hours suspension, which represents three days of work. Another will get 10 hours, or one day.

Tuesday's council meeting will review the incident, as well provide an opportunity for the LHA to give a presentation about their practices, staffing and history.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center council chambers: 350 Kimbark St., Longmont.
