Not all heroes wear capes. This one wore an Avalanche jersey

It's not easy - attending two of your team's home games on the same day. But, darn it, someone's got to do it.

DENVER - Sunday was a tough day for Ryan Bourquin. Two games in just one day and neither turned out the way this Avalanche fan wanted.

A stranger offered condolences while Bourquin and his friends took the long trek to the Pepsi Center from Coors Field. The Rockies lost 9-7 after a run scored by Arenado was taken off after a review.

"I'm sad for them," the stranger said. "They went to the Rockies game and now they have to go to the Avalanche game... I mean, that's a tough day. It's a tough day."

While the Rockies fought hard against the Cubs and the Avs were gearing up for a Game 6 against the Western Conference's No. 1 seed, but Bourquin? His toes are sore.

"I think we're working a little bit harder to be honest with you," Bourquin said, referring to the fact that the Rockies and Avs players only had to play one game on Sunday while he attended two.

Sweat was soaking through his jersey and he strained his vocal cords.

"I've been training all season," he joked about yelling for two games. "I just yell at home at the TV."

On a day when people look to the athletes for inspiration, it's always good to stop and remember people like Bourquin. He went to the Rockies game. Then he was late for the Avalanche game.

"Even more torture I took today," he said.

He knows it's not easy - going to two of your team's home games in a single day, but someone's got to do it.
