DENVER – A letter from city attorneys representing city council is requesting a written complaint from the police detective who received flirtatious text messages from Mayor Michael Hancock in 2012.
The letter, provided by Leslie Branch-Wise’s attorney Sean Lane, says Branch-Wise should provide her written complaint to the city by March 27 so it can be reviewed by council members “to determine whether further investigation is necessary and warranted.”
Lane said in an email his client intends to provide the requested written material within that timeframe.
City council initially said in a joint statement they wouldn’t launch an investigation because that might “re-victimize” Branch-Wise.
Branch-Wise responded to the council’s statement, requesting an open investigation.
