Bob Beauprez, a former Colorado congressman, says he is under consideration by President-elect Donald Trump for the post of Interior secretary.

If so, he is on a long list of potential candidates to head the U.S. Department of the Interior, which administers 640 million acres of federal land, most of it in the West, and oversees energy production on those lands.

Another Coloradan is heading up Trump's Interior Department transition operations, the Washington Post reports.

He is David Longly Bernhardt, a shareholder and co-chair of the natural resources practice at Denver-based law and lobbying firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, and a former Interior Department official.
