COPPER MOUNTAIN - One by one, ski areas are opening. And with a little snow, some are managing to open additional terrain in time for the busy Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving Day isn’t one of the busiest days of the year but the days after Thanksgiving can be very busy.

At Copper Mountain Morgan Whitehouse says "thanks" to some recent snow because they’ll get more terrain open the day after Thanksgiving, just in time for the rush.

"It’s Thanksgiving weekend, it’s a big weekend, luckily Mother Nature has been pitching in even if it’s not as much as we would like we got three inches overnight and two inches the night before that and everything helps,” said Whitehouse.

The recent snow has also helped Beaver Creek, they delayed their opening and had to cancel men’s World Cup racing on their Birds of Prey run but will open the day after Thanksgiving with the help of eight inches of snow in a few days.
