For the first time since launching in Denver the Rock 'N' Roll series won't include a full marathon.

Organizers decided to make the 2015 full marathon the last one in Denver after permitting issues with the city forced them to change the course. Many runners were upset with the changes.

For 2016 they added a brand new 5K race on Saturday morning and a Remix Challenge.

"The Remix challenge, it's a brand new challenge that we are bringing to he Denver market," said Event Manager Madora Mak. "It includes 2 days of running. so anyone that participates in the 5K and then Sunday's race so either the half marathon or 5K has an opportunity to earn an extra medal. They get to earn double bling, double T-shirts so it's kind of a double package."

Over the course of the 2 days 14,000 runners are expected to participate in the Transamerica Rock 'n' Roll Denver. Organizers worked closely with the city to keep runners safe along the course while minimizing impacts.

"We have great support from the city this year," said Mak. "Decreasing traffic downtown is something we have really taken into consideration. I know the city is incredibly happy with the course and what we have established with the 5K and creating it so it's smooth for everybody on Saturday and Sunday."

All of the events start and end at Civic Center Park. While they're working to minimize impacts, there will no doubt be headaches for some drivers. You can find a list of closures here.
