MADERA RANCHOS, Calif – A white pony that had been dressed as a unicorn for a photoshoot was hell-bent on freedom Thursday afternoon as it led police on an hours-long chase and darted in an out of traffic.

The pony first dashed away from a child at 2:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol says. It was recaptured shortly after, but escaped again three hours later.

It was seen in busy rush-hour traffic, but was finally located by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

KSEE/KCRA reports the unruly pony was unharmed, and that many drivers were hesitant to report sightings, because they weren’t quite sure what they saw.
