Smoke visible, part of home collapses after Centennial fire

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Smoke was visible in the distance for Centennial residents after a fire broke out early Sunday morning near South Chambers and East Smoky Hill roads.

South Metro Fire Rescue says the fire was centered in the walkout basement, first and second floors of the home in the 15000 block of East Prentice Lane.

No one was injured in the fire, according to South Metro, and investigators are on the scene to determine the cause.

When firefighters first arrived, they say the back deck of the home was fully involved.

The second floor of the home has since collapsed, and the first floor is partially collapsed, South Metro Fire said.
