Thornton police have arrested a suspect who they say shot at one of their officers on Thursday.

Just before 3 a.m., a Thornton Police officer was shot at while following suspects in a stolen vehicle, according to Matt Barnes, spokesperson for Thornton Police.

Barnes said the officer's vehicle was hit by bullets, but the officer was not injured.

The suspect vehicle was stopped at 56th Ave. and Worchester St., in Denver, where one suspect, identified as 20-year-old Cesar Alexis Pinedo, was taken into custody, according to Thornton Police.

Police then started a search in the area for a second suspect, later identified as Jaime Allan Herrera, 22.

Herrera was found and arrested Friday evening. He is being held on investigation of attempted first degree murder of a police officer, aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony eluding.
