Officials from the Marriott hotel chain will be in Fort Collins during the weekend to check out The Elizabeth Hotel in Old Town to ensure it is ready for its debut, which could come as early as Monday.

The city last week issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for the 164-room hotel and adjacent parking garage, leaving the path clear to open at any time.

It will all come down to whether Marriott officials sign off during their weekend inspection. The hotel development is a cooperative effort among Loveland-based McWhinney Inc., Fort Collins' Bohemian Cos. and Sage Hospitality, which will operate the hotel.

The Elizabeth is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection and needs the blessing from Marriott executives before welcoming guests.
