Burglars damaged a church in Thornton, but the pastor says they will not stop Easter Sunday service from happening.

The alarm brought the pastor to the Adams County church; he says he saw three teenage boys run away.

Two churches share the space on 96th Avenue: Destiny Outreach and Refiners Fire Ministry.

Parishioners spent the evening cleaning up a disaster zone after someone smashed the windows and destroyed tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, furniture and instruments.

They even managed to flip the church's piano over.

One of the pastors, Renee Coventry, says her great aunt and uncle built this church in the 80s.

"It has been a family event to minister to this community. A family calling so to speak. So this is just a little devastating to us," Coventry told 9NEWS on Monday. "This stuff happens. We forgive the individuals. They still have to answer for our actions. We plan on having church on Sundays. Just like always! If we have to sit on the floor we will!"

Thornton Police spent several hours taking fingerprints, but no suspects have been named, and no hard description has been released.

Like Coventry said, the pews may be destroyed and the guitars smashed -- but Easter service will happen on Sunday.

“We plan on having church on Sundays. Just like always," Coventry said. "If we have to sit on the floor we will!"
