The toddler at the center of the Amber Alert was found safe with her mom on Sunday, police told 9NEWS.

Eighteen-month-old Madilynn Ronquillo and her mother, 28-year-old Brittany Claudine Martinez of Rio Rancho, New Mexico were sought in Brighton after she reportedly left messages with family that she may be emotionally distraught and last known to be in the Brighton area visiting people.

An endangered missing person alert was activated just after 4 a.m. which about 5 hours later was upgraded to an Amber Alert.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a trooper realized he knew someone who knew Martinez. It was at this time the trooper used that person to contact Martinez. Just before 10:30 a.m., troopers found Martinez and her daughter unharmed in Thornton.

"This was a stressful time for those affected by this situation but a great example of the public’s diligence and some great investigative tenacity that resulted in the safe resolution to this stressful situation," a release from the Colorado State Patrol read in part.
