Volunteers searching for missing man find a body

"It's never a good feeling, waiting and wondering and thinking it could be [Adam]," said family member Joshua Saesan. "We're simply looking for a little compassion and hope that we'll be told as quickly as possible whether this is the person we love."

Volunteers who were searching an area along the South Platte River for a missing man found a body Saturday afternoon.

Adam Gilberston, 29, has been missing since Dec. 15. On Saturday his family members, friends and volunteers organized a search for him. They met near South Bannock Street and West Alameda and then fanned out to begin searching the area near where Gilbertson was last seen.

Around 2:30 p.m. a member of that search party called 911 to report that they had found a body.

Denver Police say the body is an adult man and that it had been there for "some time." Right now they can not say whether it is Gilbertson. They say their case into his disappearance is still an active investigation.

An autopsy will be done in the coming days to determine the man's identity.

Originally from Minnesota, Gilbertson went to school in Wyoming, according to family, before moving to Denver about a year ago.
