Local authorities say a Sunday afternoon brush fire near Denver International Airport could have been intentionally set.

The fire, near the 32000 block of E. 144th Ave. in Brighton, sparked just before 1:30 p.m. and was contained around 5 p.m. Firefighters say strong winds of 15-20 miles per hour propelled the fire.

According to the Brighton Fire Department, the fire burned 300 acres of weeds and two unused sheds . DIA says the fire did not impact air travel at all.

This was not a controlled burn, fire officials said. Local authorities are investigating this as intentional.
