The dam at a popular Colorado reservoir is getting an update.
Denver Water is beginning upgrades this month on the dam at Williams Fork Reservoir in Grand County.
The preventative maintenance project includes repairs to the hydropower turbine, generator and water intake gate.
Denver Water says it's the first time the gate will have been fully removed since it was installed in 1959.
The project, which aims to boost reliability and efficiency of the equipment, is expected to be completed in spring 2018.
