A man accused of lacing heroin with elephant tranquilizers over the summer was acquitted on Thursday due to lack of evidence, the Fifth Judicial District Attorney's Office announced.
Samuel Brunelus was arrested in July in Florida on suspicion of lacing heroin with elephant tranquilizers - called carfentanil - that led to the deaths of two people in Eagle County in March.
A multi-agency investigation that spanned months led up to the arrest.
