Veterans in Durango and La Plata County will be able to receive 2017 Durango Transit annual passes for free, thanks to an anonymous donor, a city official told 9NEWS.
Veterans could previously purchase the passes for $30, a drastically reduced price from the standard annual pass price of $306 for an adult, Assistant City Manager Amber Blake said.
The donor will be paying the reduced price for the passes, and there is no limit on the number that can be given out, she said.
“We’re very grateful to the donor,” Blake said. “And excited that public transit will be more affordable and convenient for our veterans.”
To receive a pass, you must be a resident of Durango or La Plata County and you (obviously) need to be a veteran, she said. Veterans can get a pass at the Transit Center at 250 W. 8th Street, if they bring photo and veteran identification.
