A man is in custody after allegedly chasing kids, trying to get into strangers’ vehicles and breaking into a home – all while he wasn’t wearing any clothes.
The bizarre incident happened on Thursday morning near Vanguard Elementary School.
Officers first encountered the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Christopher Ruiz, near the intersection of St. Elmo Street and Nevada Avenue. He was running around in traffic and chasing children, as well as trying to get into cars that drove by, according to Colorado Springs Police.
Police say he then broke into a home across the street by punching out one of the windows, injuring his left arm.
Someone inside the house was able to force Ruiz out of the home, and a Colorado Springs officer confronted him in front of the residence, as neighbors also tried to contain him.
Police say Ruiz was “very uncooperative” and had to be forced to the ground. He had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment for his arm injury.
