Scores of family, friends, colleagues, local politicians and government officials celebrated with Tom Clark Tuesday evening at Coors Field. The occasion? Clark’s retirement as the long-time head of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp.

It was the second huge gathering of people in as many weeks organized to pay tribute to the man who many believe was the secret ingredient in Denver’s recipe for economic success over the past 30 years.

Over the past couple weeks, and on Tuesday night, it felt a little like people didn’t want to let go of Tom Clark. And, fortunately for everyone, they don't have to. He’ll still serve on the Colorado Economic Development Commission and do some consulting work that will likely keep him involved in the important work of economic development.
