If anything good is to ever come of what happened aboard United Express Flight 3411 last Sunday, it will have to emerge from the investigation and subsequent report on the incident that United CEO Oscar Munoz promises to deliver by April 30.
If United does the investigation right — and that may be a big "if" because the airline itself is doing the report instead of a third-party entity — the findings could lead to massive and much-needed change in airline operations not only at United, but across the entire airline business.
Make no mistake. Massive and meaningful change is urgently needed.
That point was smartly underscored by Chicago-based personal injury attorney Tom Demetrio at a press conference today during which he talked about the Dao case and the lawsuit he predicted probably will be filed. Dao has retained Demetrio to represent him.
