ADAMS COUNTY - Two Adams County Sheriff's deputies were taken to the hospital after their patrol car rolled early Sunday morning.

The sheriff's office confirmed the two deputies were in an unmarked patrol car at the time of the crash.

The car rolled near eastbound I-76 and southbound I-25 just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

The sheriff's office says the car landed on the embankment and the guardrail was wiped out. Fire crews had to cut the deputies out of the patrol car.

The deputies were taken to Denver Health with serious injuries, but officials say they are expected to recover. One of those deputies was in surgery according to a tweet by the Adams County Sheriff's Department.

Colorado State Patrol is investigating the scene. North Metro Fire also responded to the crash.

It's unknown at this time where the deputies were headed at the time of the incident.

The ramp reopened just after 6 a.m.
