West Metro crew heading to Southern California to help fight out-of-control fires

Colorado firefighters are headed to Southern California to help with several out-of-control fires there.

Four West Metro firefighters and an engine are headed for California Wednesday morning.

The crew will be helping fight the devastating brush fires burning in the southern part of the state.

SKY9 was overhead when the crew took off just after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The strong winds that have helped the fires spread in Southern California have also made it hard for water-dropping planes and helicopters to fly.

Three fires forced evacuation orders for 200,000 people and destroyed nearly 200 homes.
