We've reached the NCAA Playoffs for Division I lacrosse and two Colorado teams have made the cut. The University of Denver Pioneer's Men's Lacrosse team and the University of Colorado Buffaloes Women's Lacrosse team will be playing in their first round match ups this week.
DU's Women's Lacrosse team barely missed the cut after falling to the Florida Gators 18-12 in the BIG EAST Conference Championship last Saturday.
The Colorado Eagles still remain in the second round of the ECHL Playoffs against back-to-back defending Kelly Cup Champions, the Allen Americans. The Eagles lead the series 3-0 going into last Thursday's game and have since dropped back-to-back games to the Americans.
Eagles still ahead 3-2 in the series and will face the Americans on the road for Game 6 for another shot at advancing to the third round.
Also in the playoffs, the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team will face the Saskatchewan Rust in their first round match up on Saturday. The Mammoth have made the post-season every year since 2011, but this year they will finally compete in the National Lacrosse League West Division finals after a 13-12 win against the Vancouver Stealth last week.
On the high school level, Spring state championships are commencing this week with the Girls Tennis State Championships in Denver, Pueblo and Greeley. There will be one or more high school state championships every week until May 27, concluding with 2A-5A state championship baseball.
