In the heart of the Vail Valley, Cooper Bennett, Cari Stratton, and Sammy O’Neil have come to the Burton US Open to see Olympic athletes they just watched at the Olympics.

“I want to see Red Gerard and Anna Gasser,” said O’Neil.

They are just a few of the thousands of people who will see some of the biggest names in halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarding.

Less than two weeks after competing on the snow in South Korea at the Olympics, dozens of Olympians are now on Colorado snow.

Around 50 Olympians, and some 15 medalist from all over the world – including Colorado Olympic super stars like Silverthorne’s gold medal slopestyle snowboarder Red Gerard and Steamboat Springs halfpipe bronze medalist Arielle Gold will be attending.

After the pressure of the Olympics, Gold is looking forward to competing back at home.

“This year it has a different vibe, to it just coming off Korea I’m more focused on having fun snowboarding,” Gold said.
