Harris County Sheriff's Office's statement on Emmanuel Sanders case

The Broncos in a statement Thursday morning: ""We are aware of the media report involving Emmanuel Sanders and are looking into it."
It's been difficult for the Broncos with ties to Texas to stay completely focused on football with the flooding in Houston, so several of them, like Houston native Emmanuel Sanders, have been doing their part to help.

A complaint against Denver Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders was filed in Harris County, Texas last summer but after an investigation by the local sheriff’s office, district attorney’s office and a grand jury, it was determined no charges would be filed.

TMZ reported Sanders’ case was a felony 2 sexual assault. A statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to 9NEWS did not reveal the nature of the complaint because it did not result in criminal charges.

The statement:

“The Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Emmanuel Sanders on June 15, 2017. The complaint was thoroughly investigated and all involved parties, including Emmanuel Sanders, were interviewed by investigators. Upon completion of the investigation, evidence and witness statements were presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether a criminal charge should be filed. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a grand jury, which determined on January 9, 2018 that there was insufficient evidence to support a criminal charge.”

Harris County encompasses Houston, Texas.

The Broncos in a statement Thursday morning: “We are aware of the media report involving Emmanuel Sanders and are looking into it.’’

Sanders spoke with multiple members of the Broncos' organization Thursday. According to a source, he emphatically denied any wrongdoing and indicated he fully cooperated with the investigation to clear his name.
