AURORA -- The Broomfield Eagles are looking for a three-peat in the 5A state championship after defeating the No. 1 seeded and undefeated Denver East Angels 2-1 on Wednesday evening in the 5A boys soccer semifinals.

Denver East took a 1-0 lead after the first half on a nice header from Ryan Riforgiate.

However, in the second the Eagles would even the score off a far out kick from junior Michael Mooney making this semifinal a game.

Soon after, Broomfield would strike again, this time on a great connection from Sawyer Giles to Jeff Robisch for the 2-1 lead.

Broomfield holds on to the 2-1 lead in the second despite a hungry Denver East team fighting to stay alive.

The Eagles are no stranger to the state championship in soccer and will be attempting to win their third state championship in a row against the No. 2 seeded Boulder Panthers.
