In the first year of CHSAA's new 2A Boys Soccer State Championship bracket, two mountain teams Crested Butte and Telluride hit the field on a cold title game face-off at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday evening.

A match-up to make history, Crested Butte goalkeeper Slater Weil and Telluride goalkeeper Tommy Wells didn't want to be the first to permit the first goal to enter their respective nets in the championship match.

Each made diving saves in crucial instances throughout the match and eventually that hard work would show, both teams finishing regulation nil-nil.

Even in overtime the two keepers fought hard to keep the ball out of the net. From breakaways to open shots in the slot, they were there. However, in overtime a Telluride yellow card would lead to a CB free kick early in the first 15 minute overtime and that kick would prove the difference.

Crested Butte sophomore Gabi Marmolejo's kick would slip past the line and strike the top corner of the net for the Golden Goal.

The Crested Butte Titans took home their first 2A Boys Soccer State Championship after a 1-0 win in overtime.
