ARVADA -- The No. 3 Eaglecrest Raptors are now an undefeated 9-0 after a 38-21 victory over the Ralston Valley Mustangs.

Grinding since the kick off, the Raptors were constantly pushing for an extra yard on offense and it paid off. Eaglecrest took the lead and never let go.

Once in the first quarter, twice in the second, Raptors put up 21 points in the first half while, giving up a toss to the end zone by Ralston Valley to conclude the half 21-7.

Eaglecrest's Victor Garnes took the ball from start to finish on a kick return at the end of the half for a major momentum boost heading into halftime.

Second half, Garnes would strike again, bouncing off a tackle and diving for the end zone. Quarterback Jalen Mergerson got the job done not only through the air, but on the ground scoring two rushing touchdowns.

Ralston Valley would continue to stay competitive; quarterback Salvetti D'Ascoli would hit Tyler Callaway and Cade Peratt for scores in the game.

After four quarters, Eaglecrest remained on top for another victory to remain undefeated. One more win and the Eaglecrest Raptors will be league champions, the first time since 1993.
