The new early signing period is already off to a fast start for some of the best high school football players in the state of Colorado.

This year marks the first time that prep football players coming out of high school who are going to be playing at the Division I level can choose to sign with a school during a 3-day period in mid December.

In 2017, that period runs from Wednesday, Dec. 20 to Friday, Dec. 22.

The normal signing period for athletes coming out of high school will still take place in early Feb. 2018, lasting this year from Feb. 7 to April 1.
