ARVADA -- The No. 21 seeded Horizon Hawks took down the No. 12 seeded Ralston Valley Mustangs in the first round of 5A soccer playoffs on Thursday evening.

Focused, the Hawks came out ready to play both ways. They dominated on not only offense, posting two goals in the second and another in the third, but also on defense, keeping the Mustangs from getting dangerous shots inside the box.

They weren't able to completely shut out the Mustangs, who sailed in a cross around midway through the second half.

The Hawks would hold on for the 3-1 upset to advance and play the No. 5 seeded Fairview in the second round.
