Chauncey Billups honored by his Denver high school

The Portland Trail Blazers head coach was honored at his alma mater in Denver.

DENVER — Chauncey Billups, a two-time state basketball champion from George Washington High School, was honored Tuesday at his alma mater.

The high school, college and professional basketball legend was celebrated at the Denver high school where they dedicated the name of the court after him.

Billups, now the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, graduated from George Washington High School in 1995.

In Billups’ time in Denver Public Schools, he was a four-time Colorado Basketball All-State selection and Colorado Player of the Year. Billups went on to play at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The gym rededication revealed the name of Billups on the basketball court, and hopes to issue in a long history of George Washington alumni that will be engraved after.
