For just the second time in nine years, Valor Christian will not be crowned state champs in high school football.
In a stunning upset, No. 8 Grandview shocked undefeated and No. 1 Valor, 28-16 in the 5A quarterfinals.
It's the earliest the Eagles have been knocked out in school history.
Valor Christian came into the matchup having won back-to-back state titles, and a staggering seven of the last eight championships.
The school's only other playoff loss in history was against Cherry Creek in the 2014 state title game.
The Eagles took an early 10-0 lead, but the Wolves responded with 28 unanswered points to take control and eventually, take the victory.
With the huge win, Grandview moves on to the 5A semifinals to take on defending state runner-up Pomona.
