ARVADA--The first touchdown pretty much summed up the Ralston Valley football team Friday night.
It was tough, bruising and relentless--the three adjectives that described the Mustangs' ground attack and stout defensive line in Ralston Valley's 27-14 victory over Arvada West.
In the first quarter, it looked like Mustangs Senior Tyler Shannon would be stopped for just a short gain on the ground.
Instead, he bounced off several defenders like a pin ball, and then burst down field for a long score to make it 7-0 Ralston Valley.
His team stayed out in front the rest of the game.
Tyler Callaway was a big reason why, scoring both a receiving and rushing touchdown on the night.
On the other side, Arvada West Quarterback Johnny Krutsch threw a pair of touchdowns to keep things close against the Mustangs.
However, Ralston Valley scored the first 13 points of the second half to pull away and lock up the victory to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Meanwhile, with the loss, Arvada West fell to 5-2 on the year.
